Today’s photography product review is a sweet little website called The [b] School. I joined just a couple weeks ago and have had SO MUCH FUN there. Their tagline is “photographers helping photographers” and that is completely accurate. Membership to the site includes a forum where anyone can ask questions, a classroom where videos are added every Thursday (interviews with photographers, shooting techniques, marketing/branding information, etc.), a gallery to upload your images and get critiques, and the funnest part–interacting with other photographers and making friends with them. It is the perfect way to share referrals between photographers and help each other out with bookings when someone is busy or when someone else’s style would be more appropriate for a client. AND I’ve heard a bunch more features are still being added. The only way I can describe it is that it’s like combining an educational forum/classroom, a referral source, Facebook, Twitter, and an RSS reader all in one just for photographers. IT IS JUST SO FUN!!
I joined paying $10 a month and I’m not sure if what promotions are still going–I think it will be (or already is) going up to $20 a month. But once you join, your price is set for life and will never go higher. And there is totally no commitment–you pay monthly, but can quit whenever.
Is it obvious that I am loving this site?? I think it is only going to get better as time goes by. I’m so excited to keep playing on there and learning and getting to know other photographers. So come join! We need more Utah photographers and it is so fun!
This is one of a series of posts of product reviews for photographers. There is so much out there for photographers to buy… memberships, educational DVDs, e-books, actions, online classes, forums, etc. and sometimes it is hard to know whether that thing you think you MUST HAVE RIGHT NOW is really worth the cost. So, I thought I’d publicly review the things I purchase and hopefully help you decide whether or not a product is right for you and worth the cost to you and your business. If you have a product you’d like me to review, email me at iamkristinbrown at gmail dot com!
